Niagara River Fishing Report - February 16, 2012

This endangered species was released unharmed and we never took it out of the water! It was handled with care and swam away happy and healthy.... 62 x 30 Niagara River sturgeon landed while targeting walleye. February 13 2012

Angler- Steve Beckett

River Conditions are just starting to improve on the upper as of yesterday, so hopefully the steelhead fishing will pick up again. Until that happens the walleye fishing has been good, and the Lakers and Browns are still a great back up plan!

Niagara River Fishing Report - February 12, 2012
Things are still very muddy, and the lake has been way to rough to safely fish the Niagara Bar. But the walleye fishing has been outstanding for big fish with these conditions!  The season is open in Ontario on the lower river until March 1. The upper Niagara River is open all year. Walleye fishing on the Niagara River is one of the best kept secrets! A true trophy fishery with walleye over 10lbs very common! lots of fish in the 4 to 8lb range and the biggest so far in 2012 to see my net was a soild 12lber! Here are a few that we landed on Friday February 9 2012. All released unharmed. I also find that once conditions have been muddy like this for more then 3 -5 days the fishing will pick up again for trout on the Lower Niagara River. Mostly Brown trout with the odd steelhead in the mix. Lake Trout and Brown trout located on the Niagara Bar will also be willing to feed in these off coloured water conditions!

Niagara River Conditions-February 10 2012

The Niagara River conditions are muddy once again! The strongs SW winds that we keep getting hammered with are taking there toll on Lake Erie! Having said that, conditions are near perfect if you want to target big walleye but not looking good today for steelhead! Winds for today of SW 40- gusting to 60 at times. When the winds stop, Lake Trout and Brown trout fishing at the Niagara Bar will still be a option dispite the muddy water.

Niagara River Conditions-February 8 2012

Weekend conditons were perfect! Classic steelhead green in colour, no ice, good fishing! Strong SW Winds on Monday turned up Lake Erie again and by late Monday afternoon the river was toast. Monday evening the winds shifted to the North which is good....conditions on the lower river yesterday were less then one foot and brown/green. The upper river has already cleared up nicely with the North winds and the lower should be prime again today or tomorrow! Upper conditions last night were 2+ feet of vis and green.
