If its April and you are dying to get out fishing, this is a premier month to get out.  The best times to get out for numbers and size is Ice out (usually early April) until early May.  Sept-Nov. is also an awesome time for Jumbo's.  If like catching giant panfish on ultralight tackle and you like to eat one of the finest freshwater fish for the dinner table this trip is for you.
